Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Where's It App ("Where's It App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our websites, applications, and related services (the "Service").

Effective date:

Summary

We collect information you provide (such as account and profile details), information generated when you use the Service (such as events you create or attend, messages, and usage data), and limited technical data (such as cookies and device information) to run Where's It App, keep accounts secure, improve features, and comply with law. We share information with service providers who help us operate the Service, when you direct us to share, or when required. This policy explains those practices in more detail—please read it alongside our Terms of Service.

Introduction

We respect your privacy. This Policy applies to visitors and registered users of the Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

Where laws require a different privacy notice (for example, for employees or job applicants), those notices govern instead for those programs.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account and authentication: such as name, email address, and password credentials when you register or sign in.
  • Profile and preferences: such as display name, bio, profile image, location fields (for example zip code, city, or state) used to personalize discovery and distance-based search when you choose to provide them.
  • Events and content: details you add when creating or editing events (titles, descriptions, dates, locations, images, categories, visibility settings) and content you post elsewhere on the Service (such as comments or reports).
  • Communications: messages you send through in-service messaging or email you send to us (including support requests).

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data: such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, general location derived from IP, pages or screens viewed, and timestamps—used to secure the Service, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate usage.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in the Cookies section below, including session cookies for sign-in and cookies that help us measure event page views.

Information from others

Organizers and other users may submit information that relates to you (for example, inviting you to an event). We may also receive limited data from authentication or infrastructure providers as needed to operate the Service.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including search, maps, listings, and messaging).
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
  • Show relevant events and distance-based results when you have provided location-related inputs.
  • Send service-related communications (such as security alerts, password resets, and responses to support requests).
  • Detect, investigate, and help prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms and policies.
  • Analyze usage in aggregate to understand product performance; certain administrative analytics may be available only to authorized staff.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data where we have a valid legal basis such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests (balanced against your rights), consent where required, or legal obligation. You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, without affecting prior lawful processing.

Sharing & disclosure

We may share information as follows:

  • Public and community features: profile fields and event listings you choose to make visible may be shown to other users or visitors as part of the Service.
  • Service providers: vendors that host our infrastructure, store data, send email, provide maps or maps-related APIs, analytics, customer support tooling, or security services—under contractual obligations to use data only on our instructions and protect it appropriately.
  • Legal and safety:when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or government request; to enforce our policies or agreements; or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Where's It App, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and continuity commitments.

We do not sell your personal information for money as traditionally defined in applicable U.S. state laws.

Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and to understand how the Service is used. For example, we may set cookies to keep you signed in, protect against abuse, or associate anonymous event page views with a random guest identifier to measure engagement.

When you first visit the site, you may see a cookie notice at the bottom of the page. If you click Accept, we store that choice in your browser's local storage (not a tracking cookie) so we do not show the notice again, and we may load analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager to help us understand how the Service is used. Analytics and similar measurement scripts load only after you accept the notice; until then, only cookies needed to run the Service (such as sign-in sessions) are used.

You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking certain cookies may limit parts of the Service (such as staying logged in). Our Service does not respond to all browser "Do Not Track" signals in a uniform way; industry standards are still evolving.

Third-party services

The Service may embed or link to third-party features—for example, interactive maps, social login or identity providers, or external ticketing and venue websites. Those providers process information under their own policies. We encourage you to review their privacy notices when you interact with them.

When you visit third-party sites or apps from a link on Where's It App, their practices apply—not this Policy.

Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type: for example, server logs and security records may be kept for a limited period, while event content may remain visible according to your settings until you delete it or close your account, subject to backups and legal holds.

When you delete your account or ask us to delete personal data, we will delete or anonymize it where possible, except where retention is required by law or legitimate interests (such as fraud prevention).

Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and protect your account credentials.

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete certain personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, or request portability where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EEA/UK).

You can update much of your profile information in account settings. To exercise other rights, contact us at support@wheresitapp.online. We may need to verify your request and may decline requests that are unlawful, excessive, or impractical.

International users

Where's It App is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate—places that may have different data protection laws than your country. We use appropriate safeguards where required for cross-border transfers.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction to consent to data processing without parental authorization). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

U.S. state privacy notices

Residents of certain U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with comprehensive privacy laws) may have additional rights—such as accessing specific categories of personal information, requesting deletion, opting out of certain processing, or appealing our response to a request—subject to verification and exceptions under law.

We do not knowingly "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. You may contact us to exercise rights available to you.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised Policy on the Service and update the effective date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (such as a banner or email). Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy unless prohibited by law.
